I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Stellenbosch University, South Africa, in 1992, and completed my foundation training at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. After qualifying as a pharmacist in 1993, I continued working at Tygerberg Hospital until 1997.
In 1997, I moved to Saudi Arabia, where I worked as a clinical pharmacist at The Armed Forces Hospital Southern Region in Khamis Mushayt for three and a half years.
In 2001, my husband and I relocated to the UK, where I joined Lloyds Pharmacy. I registered as a pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society after successfully completing the OSPAP examination in Sunderland and undertaking nine months of foundation training. Between 2001 and 2010, I worked as a pharmacist manager and relief pharmacist in Sheffield and Bristol.
In 2010, I took on the role of Dispensary Manager at Evelyn Medical Centre in the Peak District. Three years later, in 2013, I joined the Medicines Management Team at North Derbyshire CCG, which later became part of the Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, gardening, walking/running with my dogs and bicycle touring.
